A man walked down the street. His newborn son, completely dependent on and trusting of his father, was snuggled in his arms.
The man stopped in front of the corner bagel shop, pulled a Ka-Bar from under his jacket, and with cool deftness severed his son’s head off his fat shoulders, quickly disposing body and head into a nearby trash bin.
Bystanders on the crowded street watched, nonplussed. Some continued on their way to work. Others walked by the trash bin in order to grab a bagel. No one stopped the man, for it was not their business.
After all, he had been holding the boy with his body. His choice.
